The Parkside golf team suffered losses of their top 3 golfers last year, Jakob Keidel, Kyle Littleton and Austin Ingley. It definitely hurts the team when you lose your top 3 golfers but 2 of those golfers qualified for states last year (Keidel and Littleton). The only returning varsity starter for the Rams is a junior, Tyler Scott. Scott played the role of the number 4 for the rams last year and he said ” This year is a big year for us as a team, we lost 4 seniors and this season is just a statement year to see how we can bounce back.”

Scott believes that the Rams golf team has the potential to qualify for states even though they basically have an all new lineup mostly consisting of juniors. Reed Burleson, junior, is the number one seed for the Rams and being new to the team doesn’t rattle him as he says “Being on the golf team isn’t different for me at all because I’ve always played golf but now it’s just a competition and I’m representing Parkside.” This team also has 3 more juniors on the varsity team and that’s Connor Morhs, Tyler Scott and Koby Bradshaw. This team also has a senior captain and that’s Jake Becker. This team is relatively young and that has its pros and cons. Hopefully these young guys can adjust and play as they know how.

This season for The Parkside golf team is a big year because it will show how a lot of these younger student athletes do as they try to follow in the footsteps as Keidel and Littleton. The Golf team has a promising future as they keep have the same coach as last year, Eddie Downs. It’s time for the Rams to show us what they can do.
