Parkside took on Bennett and Wihi at a wrestling tri-meet that took place last week.  Parkside was able to come up with a win against Wihi but was defeated when they went up against Bennet in a heartbreaking defeat.

The way that a wrestling tri-meet works is that the three teams show up to the meet and flip a coin to decide what weight each team has to send out first.  When the match actually begins the two teams that traveled the furthest wrestle first, that way each team get can out at a reasonable time.

Traditionally Wihi doesn’t have a strong team usually not even having enough players for a full roster, making for an easy win.  Michael Daughtery a junior captain says, “We knew Wihi wasn’t going to be that hard of a match.  We scouted both teams the week before and knew we had Wihi beat in almost every weight, but Bennett was going to be a challenge.  We had a talk the day before the match and everyone knew there job and what they had to do.  Unfortunately some players weren’t able to get a win in there match and we couldn’t get a win.  Even though we didn’t come out with a win though I was very proud of everyone because they left everything they had out on the mat and gave there all.  We gave it our best shot and now we just have to start preparing for Baysides and hopefully regionals.”

With Baysides coming up in a few weeks the team with be going hard a practices and giving it there all.  Ff you are able to place top four in you weight class at Baysides then you’ll be able to make to regionals and continue your season.  Coach Cashman says, “At this point in the season it is entirely up to them how far they want to go and how much effort they want to put into everything they do.”
