This wrestling season has come to an end in worse ways then better.  Out of the wrestling team only one player was able to make it through regionals to states and that was Jose Vasquez.  His season end badly when he lost his third match at states and lost his temper.

After losing the match Jose got into an argument with the ref that led to him getting thrown out of the tournament.  Jose said, ” I felt cheated because I know I was pinned when he called the match.  I let my temper get the best of me and I lost control.  Its not the way I would’ve liked to end my season, but there is nothing I can do now.”

Michael Daughtry is another wrestler that made it to regionals but was just short of making it to states.  Michael is also less than five wins away which is a big mile stone for all wrestlers to reach.  Next year Michael said, ” I plan on making it to states and easily reaching 100 wins which has been a goal of mine for a while now.  I hope that a lot of the team is able to make it to.  We can accomplish anything if we put in enough work and dedication.”

The head coach, Coach Cashman wasn’t happy with the seasons end thinking Jose had more in him then what he et out.  All in all though he said he was proud of Jose’s season and hopes to have more wrestlers like him in the future to build the team.

Good luck to Jose Vazquez and the other Bayside Conference wrestlers who will be competing at the MPSSAA state wrestling tournament this weekend at the Showplace Arena in Upper Marlboro, MD. Follow all of the action on www.trackwrestling.com
