On May 15 the Parkside tennis team competed in the districts competition which is the equivalent to regionals in most other sports .  Every North and South school came to compete in this competition that took place at Cambridge.

Unfortunately the match ended early for everyone at Parkside with nobody making it to the second day.  John Grant a senior was able to make it to the second game before his last season on the Parkside tennis team ended.  John said, ” I’m sad that this year ended so soon, but it was still a good season.  I made a lot of new memories that I will have for the rest of my life.  I gave it my all and left everything on the court and so did my teammates.  I couldn’t ask for anything more”.

In addition to John, Shawn Temple and Angelo Giatano also competed, but in the doubles match.  In a close game they lost to Cambridge 6-3 and a 6-4 ending their final season.  Shawn, a four year returning varsity player will be a big loss to the team.  Next year the team will be very young with losing four of the eight people that were able to make it to districts.  Shawn said, ” I have faith in my team and their skill as a whole next year.  They should do exceptionally well and make it very far in their season”.

This brings this years spring sports to an end.  Every other sport has lost in their playoffs and for every senior ending their high school sports career.  Tennis was the last Parkside sport that was still going into the post season.  All in all it was a good year for Parkside sports.
